Regulations for the tenpin bowling championships
These Regulations have been revised and approved by the General Assembly 16 June 2007 in Tällberg, Sweden.
Article 1 - General
Unless otherwise stated in the Union’s General Regulations, or these Regulations, the Regulations of the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) - www.wtba.org.my - shall apply.
Article 2 - Programme
These championships shall be held as follows:
- the players/teams play in Groups of six against each other
- depending on the number of Groups the no. 1 and 2 are directly placed for the final round. From the rest a certain number of players with the highest scores will go to the final round as well (best losers).
- it’s possible to divide these players in Groups again
- the best ........ players remain and play in a knockout final; then the best 4 remain
- no. 1 plays against no. 3
- no. 2 plays against no. 4
- the losers play for the 3rd and 4th place
- the winners for the 1st and 2nd place
Article 3 – Participation - Team and individual events
The Championship is open to national/company and club teams within the Union Member.
Participation, see article 2.3.1 in the General Regulations.
In the preliminary rounds, each team (a minimum of 5 players in the team) plays 12 games (European system/Bakers). That means:
• Player 1 plays frame 1
• Player 2 plays frame 2 etc---
• Player 1 plays next time frame 6, and so on.
• Each team change lanes after 2 games.
• The top four play six games in the knockout finals as well as in the finals
• Each team change lanes after 2 games
In the preliminary rounds for individuals;
• each participant plays 5 games (European system);
• the ---- best players play 4 games; (The number of players have to be decided at every Championship)
• the top 4 play three games in the knockout finals as well as in the finals (American system).
Article 4 - Points
After the Groups’ competition and also in the knockout finals, each player starts again with “0” points.
Article 5 – Composition of team
A team may exist of 6 players. 5 players must play; 1 player may be substituted.
Article 6 - Officials
The Union Member entrusted with the organisation of the Championships will provide qualified officials.
