Check-list for the athletics championship

  1.  Take into consideration the Union ’s General Regulations, the Athletics Championship Regulations and also the Guidelines for the organisation of Union SCIPT championships.
  2. Ensure that an Athletics stadium with at least 6 tracks on a synthetic surface is available (and including space for run-ups and for throwing events).
  3. Prepare the places where the championships will take place:
    - sections, starting blocks, chronometers, podium, signalling flags, marking of sectors and distances for throwers, springboard, rakes, shovels, weights, javelins, discs, jumps   equipment, brushes and rags to dry the throwers’ sectors in case of rain, etc.
  4. Ensure that there are calibration tools to measure athlete’s equipment and also that the tools allow for the balancing of the equipment.
  5. Ensure that there are electronic chronometers.
  6. Ensure that there is a public address system.
  7. Appoint an announcer who is conversant with the languages and the disciplines.
  8. Set up a secretariat (participants’ list, photocopies, stationery, etc.).
  9. Ensure that the necessary personnel are available (referees, judges, timekeepers, starters, secretarial staff, etc.).
  10. Mark and assign the athletes’ changing rooms.
  11. Ensure that the starting numbers are in accordance with international regulations.
  12. Make available to athletes training grounds or a training area; fix the times of the training.
  13. Set up a notice-board with the timetable, including the times of roll-calls, and starting time for each discipline.  The notice-board must be in a place where it is easily seen.
  14. Fix on the notice-board a plan of the stadium, indicating the changing rooms,  secretariat, first-aid post, entrance to the track, and training areas.
  15. Ensure that a scoreboard is set up.
  16. Ensure that a first-aid post is available (including sprays, icepacks, etc.) and that medical facilities are available.
  17. Ensure that the national flags of participants are in place and that the national anthems are prepared.
  18. Prepare a podium for the prize-giving ceremonies and decide on the procedure to  be adopted in the presentation of medals.
  19. Plan in detail, together with the official delegate, the opening and closing ceremonies.
  20. Ensure that the results list is issued promptly.
